Our attorneys represent children ages 0-21 in the Orange County Family Court in matters of custody, visitation, family offenses, abuse/neglect, guardianship, juvenile delinquency and persons in need of supervision.
Our staff includes Attorneys and Social Workers/Child Advocates who work together to insure that our clients get the best representation possible.
We are seeking a Child Advocate to interview our clients and their family members.
The Child Advocate then prepares written notes for the attorney handling the case.
Spanish speaking is a plus.
Examples of work experience which provide a good foundation for this position are the following:
-Social Work -Paralegal Education:
The candidate should have a minimum of an Associate's Degree.
Other requirements:
The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to both read and write English fluently.
You must be able to use Word, and we will train you in how to use our case management software.
Description of Duties:
The Child Advocate will review the court documents and take direction from the attorney on the case to guide the substance of the interview.
The Advocate will prepare confidential notes for the attorney to assist in formulating their litigation strategy in court.
Hours required:
The Child Advocate will 35 hours per week.
We offer flextime hours.
Candidates should be available several weekdays anytime between 8:
30am and 7:
00 pm.
Workplace:
The Child Advocate will work in person 80-100% of the time, out of our Goshen and Newburgh Offices, as caseload dictates.
Some interviews are conducted in schools or other locations.
We reimburse for mileage at the prevailing IRS rate.
